Meditation Lab Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026 ยท Meditation Lab beta
Meditation Lab is a journal you can keep alone or share with a few people in a circle. This page says
what we keep, who else handles it, and what happens when you delete things. Meditation Lab is run by
Korey Mauer ("we"), who you can reach at
support@meditationlab.co.
The short version
- We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps.
- The text of your non-private entries is sent to Anthropic's AI (Claude) to name
your entries, recap your days and answer circle questions.
Private entries are never sent to any AI.
- Neither we nor Anthropic train AI models on your journal.
- Circles see only what you share with them. You can take a post back at any time.
- You can delete your account in the app. Answers you gave in a Topic Circle stay in that circle
under your first name. Everything else is deleted.
1. What we keep
- Account: your email, name, password (stored only as a secure hash), time zone and
settings.
- Journal: your entries, when you wrote them, whether each is private, and what the
app makes from them (names, daily recaps, circle answers).
- Circles: the circles you're in, their questions, the posts shared there, and
reports or blocks you make.
- Notifications: a push token for your phone, if you allow notifications.
- Crash reports (section 5).
We don't collect your location, contacts, photos or advertising identifiers. Unfinished drafts stay on
your phone and are never sent to us.
2. The AI
Meditation Lab uses Claude, an AI service run by Anthropic. The text of a non-private entry is sent to it
when you save the entry, and again once a day to recap your day and write any circle answers. Each circle
post is also sent to it for an automatic safety check before anyone can read it.
Private entries are never sent to any AI. You choose private when you write an entry,
and it can't be changed afterwards.
Under its commercial terms, Anthropic doesn't train its models on what we send and keeps it only for a
limited time. We don't train AI models on your journal either. If that ever changes, we'll ask you first.
During the beta, the person who runs Meditation Lab may read a sample of non-private
entries next to what the AI made of them, to improve the AI's quality. Private entries are never read.
Apart from that, we look at your content only to act on a report, to fix a problem you ask us about,
or when the law requires it.
3. Circles
- A Life Circle sees your day's name and recap. A Topic Circle sees
the AI's answer to its question, on days when your writing answers it.
- Your own words are shared only if you turn on Include my own words for that circle.
- Members see your first name.
- A post someone has received stays with them, even after they leave the circle.
- You can take a post back at any time: long-press it and choose Retract. It then
disappears for everyone, including people who have left the circle.
4. Deleting things
- An entry disappears from the app at once, and any post made from it is withdrawn.
Its text is erased from our database within 30 days.
- Your account (Settings โ Account โ Delete account): your account, entries, recaps,
settings and Life Circle posts are deleted. Topic Circle answers stay in those
circles under your first name, because they were part of a group conversation. Retract them first
if you don't want that.
- Our database provider's backups are deleted automatically on a rolling schedule.
5. Services we use
- Supabase: database, sign-in
and sign-in.
- Resend: sending
sign-up and password emails, so it receives your email address.
- Anthropic: the
AI (section 2).
- Expo and Apple: notifications.
A notification can include your day's name, a person's first name or a circle's name.
- Sentry: crash reports
(phone model, app version and what went wrong in the code). Reports are stripped of everything you
write or read in the app and don't include your email.
- Apple TestFlight: if you send beta feedback through TestFlight, Apple shares it with us.
These services may process data in the United States and other countries. We share data only with
them, only to run the app, and never for advertising.
6. Security
Data travels over encrypted connections and is encrypted at rest. Database rules stop one account
from reading another's journal, and circle posts can be read only by that circle's members.
7. Your rights and age
You can delete entries and your account in the app. To get a copy of your data, correct it or ask
anything else, email us. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, including
complaining to your local data-protection authority.
Meditation Lab is for people 18 and over.
8. Changes and contact
Meditation Lab is in beta and will change. If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll tell you
in the app before the change takes effect.
